Press Release Body: Look around the internet and you will find thousands of single moms due to divorce, separation or death of a spouse desperate to find a way to work around the needs of their children.
Despite all the lip service, companies offering employment are simply not friendly to single moms. Speaking to single moms, there is one in particular that comes to mind. She started out working for a "family friendly" company who assured her that it would not be a problem if she needed time off or a flexible schedule to care for her child. After 60 days she was let go because she had come in late one day due to snow and school starting late, and then was called home another day due to the illness of her child.
Another company she worked with was at first more flexible and understanding of her needs. She worked at the office during the day and on the couple of days they needed her to work during the evening she was allowed to do so from home. She worked in the internet sales department. She had many compliments over her success and was told repeatedly that they knew she wasn't taking advantage of the situation because her numbers were high. Yet..as time when on, they decided she simply had to start working at the office in the evenings. This was due to the fact that one night they had gotten busy and could have used an extra "body." In tears she was forced to leave a job she loved because she didn't have child care during the evenings.
From there, she started looking for something part-time in the hopes that if she could just scrape by financially until her child entered first grade and was at school a full day, she could get back on track. Of course most part time jobs want you to work in the morning, which didn't fit her child's afternoon kindergarten schedule. Almost every dollar she earned would have had to be given to daycare. However, she didn't give up, she kept looking for that perfect part-time, flexible or even work at home job.
Six months later she got the picture, she wasn't wanted, and it wasn't due to her skill set or work ethic! As a single mom, she simply had too much "baggage" for employers to hire her.
Finally, she decided to set out on her own and did a lot of research at places like www.pwahsolutions.com to learn about starting up her own home based business, the only avenue she felt was left to her. She finally did start a home business partnering up with a company called ITV VenturesT (which you can find at www.pwahsolutions.com under business opportunities), where she can take inbound calls from infomercials. With this business she has the ability to work around her child's schedule and build a very nice client base over time.
In conclusions, the most family friendly business you can work for is probably your own! I'm sure there are exceptional companies out there who really are family friendly, but most moms simply don't have access to them.
